Omega-3 For Your Furry Friends
The advantages of supplementing with Omega-3 fatty acids are well known, with proven benefits for the brain, heart, skin, joints, and eyes. If you’re not now supplementing with Omega-3s you need to reevaluate your nutritional protocol. But how about Omega-3s for man’s best friend? Why can’t they take advantage of the numerous
benefits of Omega-3? A while back, our two small dogs (a Bichon Frise and a Silky Terrier) began experiencing frequent episodes of limping, for no evident reason. Several visits to the vet revealed no evidence of injury though it was discovered both were afflicted with subluxating knee joints. Short of surgery there was no real options. We began supplementing their meals with a Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement made specially for dogs. After several months it was evident this was not helping. The limping would still come about. On one return visit to the vet we asked if there was a supplement that could help and he recommended fish oil. We started adding a half capsule of fish oil to their suppers each day. I am pleased to report that the fish oil absolutely made a big difference! Now, a year later, both dogs have not had one limping episode! If your dog has comparable problems check with your vet. Fish oil worked for our dogs. Try fish oil:
